In some ways, the whole ageing thing is a bit delusional in itself. Like the first time talking to someone about school - and horror of horrors, but the realisation hits that school days were suddenly a decade ago! A DECADE!!! Wow, life is suddenly being marked in decades! I am touched by your experience of “watching elderly people wait for meal time, potty time, bedtime or death.” I have done some work in a Personal Care Home and understand this pattern of behaviour.

In some ways, the whole ageing thing is a bit delusional in itself. Like the first time talking to someone about school – and horror of horrors, but the realisation hits that school days were suddenly a decade ago! A DECADE!!! Wow, life is suddenly being marked in decades!

I still am in denial of that and enjoying being perennially 18 – It’s nice your “delusional pipedreams” are keeping you exploring :-)

My age is 73; I enjoy delusional "pipedreams" thinking as alternative to the above. This machine which I use to encourage delusional thinking provides much enjoyment: what I'm doing now! I just "stumbled upon" this site which is how I discover most everything on the web in that I am computer stupid and have yet to work it with any amount of purpose. But then, it works for me; so I'm just glad to be able to speak to an entity which, I hope, still is able to think well. I have left the left the thesis of the information above.
